A little fact about my background... is that I am not by nature a 'photographer'. I am a storyteller. As much as I love whittling words into prose & narrative, photography is my favourite means of telling a story. What sets me a part in my job is that I don't look at wedding days in a regimented and set itinerary of tick-lists of photographs. Each and every couple & wedding is going to unfold differently and I start every narrative with a fresh perspective, doing my best to capture the true spirit of you as a couple. That's why I love meeting up before a wedding, so that I can get to know you and make sure that I tell the story true to you in the best of my ability. Not a fan of public-displays-of-affection? that's fine, when it comes to the 'couple sessions' I'll make sure I don't put you guys in a pose where you're doing anything uncomfortable. Maybe you share a gentle and quiet love, maybe you're adventurous and bold and enigmatic... it's my exciting task to learn how you orbit around one another and create images that embody that energy.
I like to think that my style is a gentle mix of romantic & reportage. I start in the morning, capturing your quiet getting ready moments with your close ones, the exchanging of your vows - after that, we can take some time away and find somewhere lovely and take some romantic stills of the two of you (you know, those mantle piece shots that make the parents proud). We can have a little fun with the maids & suited gentlemen, capturing a mix of silly & serious bridal party stills for the album. Mix up a few group shots (but not too many! They really can take a while) the fun before the food and speeches, right up to the dancing and all the moments in between. I like to make sure there's plenty of details recorded for you to look back on and be your second pair of eyes, spying on all the guests goofing about when you're not looking.
I never take my tasks lightly and can genuinely admit that I put a lot of love and care into what I do. I do my best to blend in with the guests and become another friend - when I began photographing weddings and sat down and thought about what sort of photographer I wanted to be, I knew that I wanted to be the kind of photographer I'd look for; someone fun and easy to be around who wouldn't make me feel uncomfortable, someone genuine and generous with the shots! I also have a team of loyal and talented friends who work with me as second shooters, each with their own strengths: film photography, fine art, styling - I make sure I handpick the right assistant for your wedding so that we team-work the heck out of your day & give you photos that will make you smile even when you're old and gummy.
You can view some of my packages on my pricing page or request an e-brochure. I am more than happy however to design bespoke packages around you - if there's any extras you'd like to incorporate such as polaroids, film photography, post-wedding shoots or maybe you want more than 10 hours coverage, that's not a problem. We can chat and cook something up just for you.
I approach each wedding differently to ensure that your photographs are true to you and capture the essence and mood of the day perfectly. I edit your photographs to best flatter the colours, venue, mood, weather & spirit of the celebration avoiding the ‘one style fits all approach.’ To view a wider and more diverse collection of images please view my galleries or website blog.
